And that step will take place early this Friday morning! It's hard to believe, even for myself, that it's almost here. And by "it" I am referring to the Breast Cancer 3 Day walk. I've done all the training I can do...except for one more walk tomorrow morning. It's already been an interesting journey. I haven't quite met my goal yet for fund-raising...I think I'm at 57%. There is still time to donate if you'd like. Even a small amount helps greatly!
As I've mentioned before, I'm walking in memory of Bev Maday. While training with her daughter, Katie, I found out that Bev walked the 3 Day 6 years straight. Her first walk being right before her diagnosis in 2000. The last walk she participated in was 2005. She wanted to walk in 2006, but was too sick from treatments. At this stage of her battle, her cancer had spread from her breasts to many other places in her body including her lungs and liver. Bev passed away September of 2007.
This is the first year that Katie and her sister Tricia have walked the walk together. They had each participated a few times with Bev, but had never walked together. This is my first year taking part in the walk at all, so we are all pretty excited.
I appreciate your prayers and your support. I know this weekend will be both emotionally and physically draining. But I am looking forward to doing my part to help put an end to this disease. Everyone deserves a lifetime.
